Mackem VS. Geordie

Mackem is a nickname that refers to the accent, dialect and people of the Wearside area, or more specifically Sunderland, a city in North East England.

Geordie is a nickname for the accent from the Tyneside or more specifically Newcastle Upon Tyne a city in North East England

...Lets start with the mackem accent first:
The name Mackem came about in the early 70's late 80's.

Mackems were known as Geordies before the name came about.

People who live around the outer city of Sunderland such as those from Houghton-le-Spring, Seaham, Boldon, Washington and Durham are also known as Mackems.

The name Mackem was created when ship workers said we'll mackem and they'll sink em! mackem (mack-em) MAKE THEM, or another phrase was wel'l mackem and theyl'l tackem! (TAKE THEM)

Yet every slang word that is from a Geordie or a mackem are always the same, just diffrent spelling for example:

Mackem- Ha'way Geordie- Ho'way COME ON

Mackem- Abowt Geordie- Aboot ABOUT

Mackem- Areet Geordie- Ha'reet ALRITE

Mackem- Dinnit Geordie- Divinnt DONT

Mackem- Wint Geordie- Wivinnt WONT

Mackem- Summit Geordie- Summik SOMETHING

Mackem- Naar Geordie Nor NO

Mackem Hyem Geordie- Hyom HOME

Every other term is identical for instance:

Y I Man ( No Way) There is no way you can detect the accents when they say these words apart from a very very little bit diffrence in tone, the Mackem tone is quite stronger and more slang then the Geordie.

Now the Geordie accent:

The Geordie accent came about in the Anglo-Saxon's.

Most popular name in Newcastle was George is how it came about.

Another thing is that in the mining days they called there lamps Geordie lamps who were invented by George

Although no real evidence has ever been produced
